2nd IEF Breakfast – FinReg 360!
As part of the breakfasts organized every quarter by IEF – Institut d’Estudis Financers / Barcelona Finance School and finReg360, the second meeting was held last Wednesday, March 6, focusing on the topic of RIS (Retail Investment Strategy). Sara Gutiérrez Campiña and Jorge Encinar Arroyo from finReg360 gave a comprehensive and interesting presentation titled “Retail Investment Strategy (RIS): Challenges for Manufacturers and Distributors of Savings and Investment Products” presented by Ferran Teixes, General Director of IEF, and Elisabet Escayola i Maranges, compliance and change management expert.
✔ The impact of RIS on the business model of financial institutions was highlighted, with special attention to the prohibition of incentives in informed sales, which could mean a significant loss of income for the industry.
✔ The timeline for implementing the regulation was analyzed, which could be delayed until the fourth quarter of 2026 due to the European Parliament elections. Other new features introduced by RIS in the context of threats and opportunities for the financial industry were also examined, as well as common concerns in the sector regarding the distribution of advice and the adequacy of the product range.
While the presentation was taking place, attendees took the opportunity to ask questions and reflect on the topics discussed.
The “Compliance Breakfasts” of the Institut d’Estudis Financers / Barcelona Finance School and Finreg360 are quarterly meetings aimed at compliance professionals in the financial sector, where high-value knowledge and experiences are shared for the industry.
Thank you to the entire FinReg360 team, the speakers, and all the attendees!
